Should parents have online access to student grades?

Many teachers and schools have adopted online systems that display student grades, attendance, and other items of note so that parents can regularly check in on their child’s progress. Some people say these kinds of systems are wholly positive: Parents can keep up to speed with their child’s academic performance and behavior, students can monitor their own progress, and teachers can post information for parents. Still, others argue that these systems could oversimplify student performance and further burden teachers. Tell us what you think.
