Smartboard
Submitted by Shana (not verified) on November 19, 2008 - 09:31.
I teach high school mathematics in a small rural school in Upstate New York. Many of my students are low acheiving students and have no interest in mathematics. I would like to purchase a smartboard to help increase their interest and be successful in mathematics. Our district has little technology and doesn't have the money to expand in technology. Any information you have will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Basic Enhancements, Inc. is a non-profit Math, Science, and Technology Program that brings additional instruction to children in under served community schools. This instruction is provided After School and in the form of Summer Camp. Acknowledging the importance of inquiry based programs is our top priority.
This after school program and summer camp gives students hands on experience that encourages a love for Math, Science, and Technology. Our programs are reasonably priced, as well as price reductions for under privileged youth.
This is where we need your support and sponsorship. We are seeking charitable contributions for some of our students. The organization needs 10 laptops to integrate the technology component of our programs. Our students will be entered into a contest that requires the use of various technologies. Any donation toward our goal will be greatly appreciated and publicly recognized.

Education in Ghana
Submitted by EMMANUEL MANU (not verified) on October 29, 2008 - 04:42.
I am a third year student of the University for Development stUdies in the Northern part of Ghana. As part of the activities of the unversity's accadimic programs we visit rural areas to stUdy the practical aspect of what we learn in the class room to enable us to blend the accadimic work with that of the practical aspect.
we have realiseD that though goverNments are making effort to encoUrage education all over but the policIES are mostly centered in the urban areas negleting the rural communities. This if not checked will be a big threat to the mellinium accounts goal which is to be achived in the year 2015.
meanwhile our group wishes to seek for help from all over the world to promote girl child education in the areas where we conducted our research. It is interesting to know that the whole of about 6 commuities in the district we visited,we could not get even a single girl who have successfully completed senior high school education. these ladies either get pregnant allong the way or willingly stop schooling.
As part of our activities the four students who were asigned to these communities decided to help and by so doing we formed functional groups which help us to at least educate them on the essence of education. we therefore wish to invite all interested partners from around the globe to help us to carry out our programs.
Interested partners could reach us by mail either on actionladiesain@yahoo.com or emma2154@yahoo.com. one can also call us on +233 20 925 2460 or +233 24 617 4917.

Videostories project needs cameras and editing equipment
Submitted by Ellen Bergman (not verified) on October 28, 2008 - 03:48.
Videostories, a technology-enhanced oral history project, gives adolescents with physical and medical challenges a unique and enpowering opportunity to give voice to their feelings by engaging in a dialogue with a family member, friend or mentor.
Our students are all patients receiving intensive rehabilitation therapies. They suffer from acute and/or chronic serious conditions and attend our school only until their rehabilitation goals are achieved. As a result, planning for discharge and transition back to local communities is primary. Our ability to employ oral narrative as a vehicle for self reflection and decision-making is vital.
Currently we record video stories using borrowed cameras. We cannot edit the results. We are seeking an IMAC computer and professional quality videocameras to enhance both the students'experiences and the quality of the CD that they are able to take with them upon discharge.
Thank you for your consideration

Science Professional Development
Submitted by Barb (not verified) on October 25, 2008 - 05:50.
Hi, I am a 5th grade teacher in NC and coordinate science programs for our newly formed middle school. I am looking for the funding of one or both of the following items. One would be for about $5,000-$10,000 to help build a middle school science lab (we have none and to be honest, we would take any donation). The second is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for a science professional development conference in Alaska that will cost approximately $2,000.

Smart Boards for Autistic Students
Submitted by Sharon Caldwell (not verified) on October 23, 2008 - 19:25.
I am interested in finding a funding source to provide Smart Boards to classrooms serving fully included and main streamed autistic students. Our school has two teachers using Smart Boards and they have noticed an increase in student participation due to the ability of these students to access and manipulate information in non-verbal ways. For the first time, these students have been able to fully participate in core curriculum lesson equally with their general education classmates. Our school is small and each teacher currently has been given a laptop and a projector. The only equipment needed is the Smart Board itself. Any suggestions on how to obtain 18 boards would be greatly appreciated.
I am a teacher in Jersey
Submitted by Jennifer (not verified) on October 22, 2008 - 14:56.
I am a teacher in Jersey City, NJ. The area is very poor, most students come from one parent homes or from foster homes. I want to provide these children with a print rich environment. These students need books and other supplemental items to assit them in reading. I am looking to provide a podcast area so students can record themselves reading stories they have written or books from the class. This way the students can listen to the story during the listening center time and have some ownership because they have put in the effort and work. If anyone can help, please let me know.
